Panaji: In a bid to cash in on Modi's popularity, BJP's Goa unit is collecting a registration fee of Rs 5 per person to attend the rally of its prime ministerial candidate here on January 12, which will kick start party's Lok Sabha campaign in Goa. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that so far over 90,000 people have registered their names for the rally.

The organisers are charging Rs 5 per ticket for the event. Apart from the general public, the BJP workers, who wish to attend the rally, will also have to pay. The public rally will be held in the open ground located on the periphery of Panaji city, where the party president Rajnath Singh will also be present.

"More than one lakh people are expected to participate in the rally," Parrikar told PTI. Parrikar has been moving around in a number of constituencies to galvanise presence for the rally. Local BJP workers have been holding awareness and registrations at the colleges to invite youths for the rally. "The registration at the colleges has been getting tremendous support," BJP local unit president Vinay Tendulkar said.

The rally has been getting response from all sections of the society as people look at Modi as the future Prime Minister, he claimed.
