Don’t make impractical promises: Lovely to Delhi govt

New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Arvinder Singh Lovely today asked the AAP government not to "make promises" which were "not practical" to fulfil, his reference being to the "long power cuts" which he claimed many areas of the city have been facing of late.

"Ever since the new government in Delhi has been formed, many areas (in the city) are facing long power cuts... Delhi government should not make promises which are not practical to fulfill," Lovely told Congress councillors in the three civic bodies of the North, East and South Delhi Municipal Corporations.

Lovely said he had written to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the power cuts and had got a reply from him that the discoms were disrupting power supply as his government had ordered them to face a CAG audit, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, addressing the councillors, Lovely said, "Congress men are used to struggle."

He asked the councillors to work hard in the interests of citizens, regardless of the party's performance in elections.

Senior Congress leader and MLA Haroon Yusuf said that corporators play an important role as people approach them for their basic civic amenities.
