Former Union Home Secretary, and now BJP activist, RK Singh on Monday alleged that Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had shielded a businessman close to India's most wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim in connection with the IPL match fixing case.

"Shinde prevented Delhi Police from interrogating a businessman in the IPL match fixing case. Agencies suspect this businessman has links with underworld don Dawood," he told CNN-IBN in an exclusive interview.
"There is no assurance from FBI on Dawood. I was present at that conference with Shinde, he is lying," Singh said.
His remarks come a few days after Shinde had said that the government along with US intelligence agency FBI was working towards bringing India's most wanted fugitive Dawood Ibrahim, who he said was currently in Pakistan, to India.
Singh further alleged that the former Maharshtra CM regularly interfered in Delhi Police's functioning and even decided who would head each police station in the national capital.
"The staff at Shinde's residence would regularly send chits with names of people who should be posted as SHOs and I heard this was done in lieu of money," Singh claimed.
Singh had earlier given an interview in which he had claimed there were quarrels between him and the Home Minister, a claim that Shinde didn't deny but said his criticism of the bureaucrat had been warranted.
Shinde had on Friday slammed Singh saying, "One needs to run administration very well and if anybody fails to do his duty, I am bound to take action against him in the capacity as Home Minister."
"I have to scold police and secretary and anybody who fails to do his duty," Shinde had said with the security breach in which Jat protesters had barged into his residence last year apparently in the back of his mind.
