Manish Sisodia calls journalists Delhi Police’s spokespersons

There is a long way to go before AAP learns the ropes of media relations it seems. And the party's lack of experience when it comes to keeping their lines of communication with the media smooth, seems to be making unflattering appearances now. Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, while answering a tirade of media queries on Sunday tripped majorly when he said that drug and sex rackets are what result in cases of rape. Defending law minister Somnath Bharti, who had given out the name of the Danish victim, Kejriwal hollered at the Delhi Police and brashly asked them to do their work.

Bharti had an unfortunate run-in with the Delhi Police when he turned up outside a south Delhi apartment and wanted to raid it based on the suspicion that a sex and drugs racket was being run from the place in full swing. Delhi Police officials were summoned to the spot by Bharti. However, they allegedly refused to cooperate with him and raid the place. Bharti was left fuming. Later Delhi Police officials defended their move saying Bharti wanted to go ahead with a raid without a warrant.

In a press met organised today, minister Manish Sisodia faced a volley of questions from the media regarding the incident and the subsequent suspension of four Delhi Police officials. That is when Sisodia lost his temper and asked the journalists present if they were spokespersons of the Delhi Police.

Zee News reports"The comment made by the Urban Development Minister infuriated the reporters, who had questioned him about the AAP's demand for suspension of three SHOs and one ACP against whom the party complained. The LG is conducting a high-level inquiry into the matter, said Sisodia."

The AAP has to keep in mind that one of the biggest roles in their win was played by the media which scrupulously covered all this rallies, dharnas, press conferences and announcements, thereby taking their voice to thousands of people. The party probably realises that and usually a collected and diplomatic Yogendra Yadav is seen addressing press conferences. However, if slips like Sisodia's become regular, then the party has to considering pulling its socks up and fast.
