Mumbai: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday said that the KG basin issue will be its main political issue in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"It is the biggest scam in the history of this country and the Bofors scam is very small before it," alleged AAP leader Yogendra Yadav while addressing the media in Mumbai.
Yadav also claimed that the party has abundant evidence against Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani in the case.
Last week, the Delhi government filed an FIR against Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily, Ambani and former Union minister Murli Deora in the case.
"This will be a political issue in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Narendra Modi who always takes on Congress over the issue of corruption is absolutely silent on the KG basin scam. Why he hasn't spoken a single word so far?" he asked and alleged that Congress and BJP are together shielding corporate bosses.
Yadav termed the newly formed third front as 'opportunist'. "It is a group of political parties coming together for power despite having different ideologies," said Yadav adding that AAP will not support the UPA or NDA or the Third Front in a post poll scenario.
Commenting on Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat's statement of aligning with AAP, he said that the party does not share any political or ideological space with the Left. "They are aligning with Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu and BJD in Orissa. What kind of agenda of change do they have?" he asked.
"We are trying to give an alternative to established political parties. For us, the Left is also one of the established parties," Yadav said, adding that the AAP will offer an alternative to UPA, NDA and the Third Front.
On BJP's allegation of not fulfilling promises in Delhi, the AAP leader said that the party welcomes scrutiny. "Narendra Modi too promised 50 lakh houses in his manifesto during Gujarat elections one and half years ago but not a single house has been built. It will be worth scrutinizing his claim too," he said.
Indicating that AAP wants to contest as many seats as possible in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Yadav said the exact number hasn't been decided. "We also hope to contest all 48 seats in Maharashtra. But, the number of seats will be decided only after finding the right candidates," he said.
