Patna: The BJP has appealed to commuters to avoid traveling by trains tomorrow in view of the party's 'rail roko' stir to demand special status for Bihar.
Saying that the agitation may cause inconvenience to the public, party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi urged the people of state not to travel by trains tomorrow.
"Those commuters, having booked tickets in trains for tomorrow, are requested to consider canceling the same to avoid facing difficulties due to the 'rail roko' stir, he said.
Modi also asked railway authorities to stop all trains entering Bihar tomorrow to the border areas as a precautionary measure.
The senior BJP leader slammed the UPA government for ignoring Bihar's long pending demand for special status, especially given that it took no time in giving similar incentives to Seemandhra after the creation of Telangana last week.
Sushil Modi promised that the BJP-led NDA would provide special status as well as a relief package to Bihar upon coming to power at the Centre.
If elected, the NDA government would also set up the Central University of Bihar at Motihari about which the UPA government had taken a decision, but failed to enact legislation during the 15th Lok Sabha, he said.
