TDP urges President to follow constitution on Telangana Bill

Vijayawada: TDP MLA Devnineni Umamaheswara Rao today appealed to the President to take a decision on the Andhra Pradesh State Re-organisation Bill as per the Constitution.

The AP assembly rejected the bill with a voice vote and it would be sent to the President for his consideration before it would be introduced in the Parliament, he told reporters here.

He said that the constitution defined the assembly's supremacy. Its decision to reject the Bill was final and it would not be introduced in the Parliament.

He also appealed to members of Parliament and union ministers from the Seemandhra region to stall the bill when the union government prepares to introduce the bill.

He also requested AP Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to file a petition before the Supreme Court to get the justice on the issue by mentioning the rejected bill.

He also said that the period from February 5 to ebruary 21 would be crucial to defend the interests of the Seemandhra region.
