Jaswant Singh’s comments on BJP an overreaction, says Arun Jaitley

Having first written in his blog that senior party leader Jaswant Singh should learn to take no for an answer, Rajya Sabha MP and outgoing leader of the Opposition in the upper house of Parliament Arun Jaitley continued to take on the senior leader who is now set to contest as an independent candidate from Barmer. In an interview to The Economic Times, aitley has said the comments made against the party leadership by the former defence minister, external affairs minister and finance minister are a "bit of an over-reaction". He is quoted as having said, "He is a senior, respected colleague and over-reactions like this should have been avoided."

In his debut electoral battle in Amritsar against former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, Jiatley is said to be facing a tough contest. Pegged as an easy win for Jaitley until the Congress announced Singh's candidature. The 'Maharaja of Patiala' has promised to put up "one hell of a fight" as a soldier and party worker.

Jaitley has also said the induction and subsequent ouster of Pramod Muthalik could have been avoided.

"As the election campaign enters the final stage with the announcement of most of our candidates, the BJP and the NDA are clearly front-runners. We not only have to preserve the lead, but also improve upon it," Jaitley wrote in his blog.
