Court has given its verdict, Chandrababu Naidu says of Modi

His Telugu Desam Party is keeping its cards as close to its chest as its leader Chandrababu Naidu is, but the latter has now ventured to say that there is "goodwill" for the BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi and that this cannot be denied.

In an interview to The Indian Express, Naidu has said, when asked about Modi's culpability in the violence in Gujarat in 2002, "The court has given its verdict."

Asked if he gives a clean chit to Modi, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh said Modi has said he wants to focus on develoment.

Having shared a stage with Modi, a tie-up with Modi is not to be ruled out, he said. "All things are possible," he is quoted as having said.

The TDP, as per the results of various pre-poll surveys, is expected to put up a good show in the coming Lok Sabha election and Naidu could well emerge as one of a handful of king-makers in the eventuality of a fractured mandate. Asked pointedly if he will go with the BJP, he is quoted as saying he will take the decision "at an appropriate time".
