New Delhi: Congress today demanded CBI inquiry into the alleged recruitment and admission "scam" in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh.
"Not only 'Munnabhai MBBS' (a reference to fake doctors) are coming to fore in Madhya Pradesh. There are also Munnabhai teachers, Munnabhai policemen and Munnabhais in transport department. The scam in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (VYAPAM) is not confined to Pre Medical Tests," the newly-appointed CLP leader of Madhya Pradesh Satyadev Katare said.

Levelling serious allegations of corruption against BJP leaders in Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet, Congress that the admission and recruitment scam gripping VYAPAM is spread out in other states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as well and hence an inquiry by the Special Task Force of the state won't suffice.
"When INLD chief Omprakash Chautala can go to jail in a similar case, then why not (Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister) Shivraj Singh Chouhan," said Katare, who was addressing a press conference at AICC with PCC chief Arun Yadav.
The leaders claimed that though VYAPAM existed for a long time, the scams happened during Chouhan's tenure.
"There are huge irregularities being reported during Chouhan's tenure," Katare said alleging that the "caucus of IAS and IPS officers" have used the institution to "manage" degrees and jobs.
"Former state minister Laxmikant Sharma was absconding till some time back. When the name of former BJP Chief Minister Uma Bharti came and she threatened and the DGP of the state called on her to assure her.
"If Chouhan and Bharti have no hand in the scam, what is the problem in a CBI probe? Since the scam is spread to states outside Madhya Pradesh also, a inquiry by STF alone will not do," Katare said. The AICC also released a bunch of documents detailing the alleged role and conduct of the Chief Minister and senior officers of the state.
