4.18 pm: We have telephone conversations that implicate Kanimozhi: Bhushan
Prashant Bhushan continues, saying that they are in possession of a series of recorded telephonic conversations that implicate DMK leader Kanimozhi further in the 2G scam.
"The tapes were recorded on a mobile phone. We can't say who has leaked the tapes. There is talk in the tapes even of kickbacks from a power plant going to the accused. We have verified with people who know the persons in the tapes and they verified the voices", he added.
Bhushan added that the latest 'evidence' in AAP's possession showed that the DMK leader's role in the scam needed to be probed further.
Why he is targeting Karunanidhi in particular is not very clear, especially given that the DMK is unlikely to play a very significant role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
However AAP is probably trying to bring the 2G issue back into the public spotlight - given that it was the sheer scale of this scam that prompted the outpouring of anger against corruption in the government.
In many ways it was the anger prompted by 2G - along with many other scams - that saw the birth of the India Against Corruption movement - the precursor to the Jan Lokpal movement and AAP itself.
Given that sentiment against AAP is not all roses right now, perhaps the party has decided that the way to go is remind people just how bad the 2G scam is. Public memory is as we all know, notoriously short.
4.06 pm: Prashan Bhushan makes fresh charges against Kaliagnar tv in 2G scam
Prashant Bhushan is addressing the press conference at the constitution club.
The charge perse seems to be against Kalaignar TV. For those who need a quick refresher - Kalaignar TV is owned by the DMK, and its alleged involvement in the 2G scam is why Kanimozhi, the daughter of DMK supremo Karunanidhi, served a jail sentence in Tihar, Delhi.
"There are conversations between Kanimozhi, Karunanidhi's PA and Jafer Sayed an IPS officer close to the family. This conversation shows that Karunanidhi was completely aware of the dealings taking place", alleged Bhushan.
4.00 pm: AAP promises to expose 'new material' on 2G Spectrum scam
The Aam Aadmi Party has said that it will expose 'new material' in relation to the 2G spectrum scam. In an invite to the media, AAP said that the new material will show the 'deep involvement of some of the important political players, themselves involved in the scam, in covering it up'.
No other details were immediately available, and it is unclear who AAP intends on targeting.
The new allegations come on the back of a sensational press conference yesterday, in which AAP MLA Madan Lal accused Arun Jaitley, Narendra Modi and the BJP of offering him money to back rebel MLA Vinod Kumar Binny and topple AAP's Delhi government.
Although Lal could not provide the media with any evidence to back his claims, it led to a group of AAP party workers to converge on the BJP leaders Delhi residence, which later led to a bizarre protest face off between BJP and AAP workers.
Jaitley went on to call AAP a party of 'pathological liars' and party leader Nirmala Sitharaman said that the party's idea of 'alternative politics' was gaining 'publicity at any cost'.
